HIRING A LIMOUSINE FOR YOUR SPECIAL DAY – HOW TO AVOID A DISASTER
With all your plans you have made for your wedding day the last thing you would want is for it all to fall apart because your wedding transport has broken down or not even turned up at all!
You can avoid any such problems by hiring through an accredited wedding car association (WCA) operator. A vehicle hired from a WCA member is your Guarantee of Quality Service, Value, Honesty & Helpful Advise. All members are bound by the WCA Code of Ethics which means a quality & risk free service for you.
TIPS ON HOW TO CHOOSE A WEDDING CAR
There is much more to a wedding car service than just a quick drive to the ceremony.
While you may be able to persuade friends to drop you off at the venue, utilizing the services of a Wedding Car Association member can reduce much of your wedding day stress.
When you begin to consider your transport, firstly think about what type of car & colour will suit the theme & style of your wedding & will also suit the venues that you have chosen. You will need to take into consideration any personal preferences your partner may have & then of course the practicalities for the day ( If a bride is wearing a full hooped dress, then maybe a two seater modern coupe is not the best choice! )
You will also need to have finalised on the make – up of your bridal party. The more bridesmaids & groomsmen you have, the more (or larger) cars you will need. Also you will need to have a reasonable understanding of the timeline for the day but actual times can be confirmed at a later stage.
QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN CHOOSING A TRANSPORT OPERATOR:
- Can I see the cars before I book?
- Do you have matching cars?
- Do you have a minimum booking time?
- Are the cars licenced by the Victorian Taxi Directorate (there should be current year sticker affixed to the windscreen)
- How many passengers is each car licenced to carry?
- Do all the cars have current Roadworthy certificates?
- Do all your drivers have Vic Roads Drivers Certificates?
- Will the cars I book be the one(s) that actually turn up on the day?
- What public liability insurance cover do you have?
- Do you have a contingency plan for mechanical failure?
- Are the cars Air Conditioned & heated?
- How much is the deposit?
- What happens if I cancel?
- When is the balance due & how can I pay?
- What is your policy if we go over time?
- Do you have a surcharge if we are outside the metropolitan region & do you charge travel time getting to the first pickup?
- Do you provide a late night collection service?
- What other services do you provide?
- Can you provide me with references or testimonials?
Are you a member of the Wedding Car Association & bound by the code of ethics?
As with most decisions you make there will always be a certain amount of risk involved. You can minimise this risk by asking yourself a few basic questions before making your choice.
- Do I feel comfortable with this operator & would I like them to be part of the biggest day of my life?
- Do the cars look like they are clean & well maintained?
- Does the business look reputable & will it still be here when my wedding comes around?
If the answer is to these questions is yes & you are satisfied with all of the responses you have been provided, then you should be able to trust your wedding to this operator.
Book you cars as early as you can to ensure you get the cars you want. Bookings are heavier during the September to April months & for the better operator, weekend time slots fill quickly.

Wedding Transport: Here Comes The Bride!
We all know that organizing a wedding can be extremely time consuming and stressful. Many brides start off the wedding preparations by commencing the search for that special dress. After perusing endless shops, we often find the perfect dress, which is often a huge sigh of relief. The wedding preparations then journeys to the subsequent tasks left, from finding the right reception venue, choosing the menu, sending out the invitations and so forth. One of the things we tend to consider last is our mode of transport. Often, it is best to organise the transport after the reception and ceremony venue has been chosen as we can better decide what type of transport will best suit the theme we have chosen or developed along the way.
Beach weddings offer limited transport ideas, primarily due to the restriction of being on sand.Logistically, arriving in a limousine is not the ideal situation. Beach wedding are affiliated with the outdoors and the sense of freedom and fresh air. Arriving on a horse is depicts a romantic and breathtaking scenery. Some couples prefer to arrive on horse together, whilst others prefer the Bride to sit side saddle, the traditional lady like way of horse riding, with the Bride slowly arriving in romantic style. For the more vivacious couples who like more than the modest approach, arriving in a boat can also offer a stylish, yet extreme entrance.
Garden weddings offer a variety of options. The beauty of outdoors offer options whereby couples can choose to arrive in traditional cars, limousines or any other means of travel. Garden weddings however offer the perfect atmosphere for the couple to arrive in a horse drawn carriage. This type of entrance offers romance and a sense of historical tradition.
Church weddings typically cater for entrances whereby cars of limousines are used. Often, the bride’s grand entrance consists of her walking down the aisle. The bride’s mode of transport is often not seen by others, thus those who wan to lower the cost a little can do so on transport if having a church wedding.
There are an abundance of ideas when it comes to weddings and transport. Most couples want to arrive to their wedding in style, making that grand entrance. Choosing the right mode of transport entails ensuring that the transport complies with the location of your ceremony. Also, the transport and the type of entrance chosen should reflect who you are as a couple. Often we hear of ideas whereby coules have parachuted to their weddings, or arrived in speed boats, motorbikes and so forth. Whatever you chose, the entrance you make will most likely be remembered by all, and should reflect your personality and individualism.
